In the beginning, there was Yellow Journalism. Yellow journalism was a style of newspaper reporting that emphasized sensationalism over facts. During its heyday in the late 19th century, it was one of many factors that helped push the United States and Spain into war in Cuba and the Philippines.
Later, Trump and his followers made the words “Fake News” infamous. In the journalism field, fake news is defined as fabricated content that intentionally masquerades as news coverage of actual events.
However, Trump has given it a whole new meaning. Instead of fabricated content, Trump uses the term to describe news coverage that is unsympathetic to him and his actions, even when the news reports are accurate.
